Life on the road, like everything else, has advantages and disadvantages, it is a lifestyle most will not going to live their life on a house that constantly moving.
Spending so many hours per day on the road can get exhausting as trips are not just about having fun everywhere we went.
In our travels there were challenges from stuck in a traffic for hours, road closure because of road constructions, snowy weather and accidents on the road.
When we encountered these type of challenges sometime were forced to halt of the rest of our trip and when it happened we always made sure to look for rest areas that we felt safe.
Many of the rest areas we had parked in the past has so much amenities such as clean restrooms, different type of vending machines that we only saw in other States, an internet connection, a large walking areas adjacent to a park which huge trees and most of them is not just a place to rest but rather a place to explore.
Some actually has a built in small museum which it tells the story of the place, attractions nearby and animals that native to the place. These type of rest areas has visitors center that was positioned near the point of entry of their State. They have one I Florida, Kansas, Georgia and Texas.
Stopping on these rest areas with those features were added educational awareness that are free to all but most will ignore. For us we do take the time to stop, read info and look around because rest areas like these is nowhere to be found in my hometown.
Yet, majority of travelers are always in hurry and only use the restroom and take off.
My encountered with fire hydrant that painted like Super Mario was an accident because all I wanted to do was to walked as a form of exercise in a neighborhood I was not familiar with. I was more concerned about not getting lost but the universe had other plan that day. On that walked I right away noticed houses in different styles, colorful fences and flowers which I got mesmerized.
That particular hydrant as I was approaching got me excited right away which unlocked something in terms of “What To Do and Look at” when traveling.
Fire hydrants was just a beginning as I developed more subjects of what I called accidental arts.
To be honest, this isn’t really about a hydrant. It’s about the moment noticing became a practice instead of an accident.
I believe I always been that knowing of paying attention not only to my environment but I am attentive to my children when they were young as well to my now deceased pets. I am also conscious of my health and when I do not feel good I listen to what my body is telling me. I am learning to slow down to be in the moment more deeply.
My story quietly tracks two kinds of attention, the wide kind (a green and yellow house, roses, a whole neighborhood) and the narrow kind (one hydrant, one detail, one thing nobody else would stop for). Most travel writing stays in the wide lane.
Paying attention to me is one source of creative outlet and when one is paying attention it reveals many layers that comes in a form of creative opportunities. To those who are willing to participate one will be able to hear, feel, sense and understand all sort of inspirations is everywhere all the time.
I am one living proof of what I was able to described the practice of paying attention. A trait I was able to hone and it became part of my life to the day I die.
Speaking of fire hydrants here are some more that brought me joyful feeling when I found them. By saying that, I do hope you seeing my post always bring you joyful feeling.
