When I thought Monday’s theme is just about telling stories of places we had seen I came to an understanding it goes way beyond story and images. It can be seeing a sunset or sunrise then we pull over, bumping into a stranger outside a restroom and we strike conversation that lead to grabbing a meal, finding a hidden town behind a general store exit door, what lesson we learned, weather condition situation, items I never took notice at first then it started to reveal itself with every places and habits I develop to fight boredom and so much more.

Traveling is another door of self discovery that lead to another layer of curiosity.

For this specific story my sighting of fire hydrants evolved into paying attention and every place I go even to this day I still take notice.

We are in Georgia for a day years ago and we decided to parked our rig on one of a quiet neighborhood. Since it was night when we arrived to our tomorrows destination that area of a parking lot is where we will be sleeping.

Morning comes and we still have few hours before delivery I told Rebel I am going to walk around the neighborhood. He goes make sure you don’t get lost and i said ok and just be sure I turned on my gps to track where I will be.

Walking in the morning before all the rush of the morning was wonderful as it is quiet and that smell of fresh air is everywhere.

A house I noticed is approaching and I stopped because the color of the house is green and yellow and what a lovely sight indeed, in their front yard is a flower box full of yellow rose so I took a picture.

Not very far from that house I spotted a fire hydrant that got me curious. I remembered running to have a look at it and to my surprise it was painted like Super Mario from Nintendo. I do not know others but this sighting is unexpected joy to me and I know I have to take a picture of it because we may never come to this part of town anymore.

When I got back to our truck Rebel was ready to go and I showed him what I took and he said that is pretty neat.

That was my first exposure of colorful hydrants.

Since then every time we travel on a weekly basis and be on the road for a week or more I always look for fire hydrants and it never disappoint. Some of the fire hydrants I came across has its own personality. One can be in rustic paints, to one that have faces, one with splatter paints, one is painted like R2D2, one has all different colors mixed together and some has drawing on it.

This is one example of what I mentioned it became a habit for me and next thing I knew another fun habit followed in terms of accidental arts, pareidolia and so much more which deserves its own story.

This is the difference between most people that travels in places where most will focus taking pictures of nice surrounding, high buildings and those just nice areas. Ours is focus so much more on the details, the ones that never bother to inspect or investigate.

In my opinion this is why even we get tired road tripping at the end of the day but traveling opens a huge door of exploration.
