Looking on my past workout when I was able to do pull up four years ago to now, I tend to wonder if I am still able to do it.
Way back then I was younger in age and halfway through my prime years, and moving forward to now, there are many things that already changed.
When I started, I had fear of falling and get hurts but that is how I found out what is the underlying meaning of fear in my way of thinking.
Could it be because people are watching, that I might fall or I will not be able to execute it. But these were all in my head only and to truly test it I should do it anyway. Reaching any kind of goal started with a “tiny step,” I believe in that in my core.
The crashed and burn even when I was getting better was there in forms of muscle tiredness, in the time of I did lost grip on the bar which followed that I was not good enough. These flaws were very temporary so I continue doing it over and over.
Ah, our mind by default will presented the negative thought first giving all the excuses it can come up with even without a proof yet. Many will listen and stop motivating themselves but those that has the drive to keep moving forward are determined to make it work.
This is the way to find out if one will be good at it or not. I’m proud to say I achieved that goal and that thought sabotaging whisper disappeared completely.
One reason or aim in life not only for me but for all is that…be patient, have a strong determination, and move forward.
Self determination followed by faith, and it moved in the direction I wanted to follow. The power is in there.
Moving to now, yes I do miss the pull ups that once I accomplished since I no longer go to the gym. I don’t have fear climbing on the bars, as my arms and shoulders are strong.
But I am very aware, as I age, an unintentionally hard landing, even with the support, can be a disaster that can cause a broken bones which takes longer to heal.
I want to find out, but common sense is stronger telling me let it go as one mistake that’s all it takes.
What make more sense to me is to reinventing different type and form of exercises.
From pull ups came rowing and Bowflex, plus walking and dancing.
In rowing on my iFit machine, I am able to test the resistance, the time I spent on one session, which now hitting almost an hour, my legs are strong and arms. That waiting for my turn to use the machine at the gym that got eliminated completely. In my rowing I find peace in mind.
At the very end, my workout didn’t end, but rather transitioned and evolved.
As I place my focus on my own upward climb, I intend the same for you.
Let that awareness and attentiveness serve your true needs, centering on what you are aiming for, and it will lead you to another revelation.
