One Coach Bag and a Garage Full of Lessons

My sister once mentioned that she doesn’t enjoy visiting thrift stores, as it makes her feel uncomfortable. As a result, I stopped discussing it with her. However, one day I unexpectedly spotted her thrifting. When I asked her about it, she merely offered an excuse, claiming she was “just looking.”

Since then, I’ve embraced thrifting as my preferred way to satisfy my curiosity when it comes to shopping. Thrift stores require a certain level of patience, especially for those who relish a scavenger hunt. There’s an abundance to discover and learn in the realm of frugal shopping, but this didn’t develop overnight.

There were mistakes like thinking everything I bought will sell, which proved to be wrong, because over a period of times it can take over space in my garage. So I am always on the ongoing donation as I tried not to be a hoarder.

Anyway, on that day, I laid eyes on a hobo bag, captivated by its color, and I knew it had to be mine. It was the Poppy Pop C print. Brand reputation didn’t matter to me; all I desired was to grab it and pay. When I realized it was a COACH, it added to my excitement. I scored this vintage Coach Poppy Collection bag at Savers for just $7.

With each thrift-store purchase, I typically manage to double my investment when selling an item. This success stems from my knack for accurately assessing value, unlike many sellers who often underestimate their thrifted treasures and list them for less than what they paid.

That difference highlights the contrast between an entrepreneurial mindset and one that is not.
