Mailboxes with Characters: Nine Years of Looking Twice

The RockiNRebel Chronicles

When a person travels or they have an adventurer personality every trip they will go offer that freedom to look around and find what they call it very nice but I do not know if they go deep in how they perceive places and things.

For us, it goes beyond what we see as beautiful because we investigate. For example those fire hydrants painted in so many colors and some has faces which was just the beginning.

Then we started noticing faces in random things which is called pareidolia which will be another topic I will be featuring but for now I want to share mailboxes in many forms.

In the past I did shared so many images we came across in our travel on my personal FB account but I took noticed all people that follows me are not interested on what I share. They are all interested posting their drama, pictures of their family or random post that doesn’t have any value to me. Therefore, I just stopped posting once and for all from my personal FB account.

To be honest though, I was actually surprised to find out most people are boring and stop being more engaged with their life.

Who could have known my first trip to California with my partner would be followed by nine years of constant driving which taught me tremendous rich experiences of how to enjoy the road and what it has to offer.

The lure of constant traveling can be fun if you are an adventurer but if you are not it will become tiring fast.

Everyday we always have a goal from the time we started driving to a destination that will take a few days for us to arrive. So, in between where we started to what is in the middle, which is where are we going to park for the night, that is what I am always forward to.

Sounds like camping to me but better than those that camp out in places because they are in one place while with us we could be sleeping next to a river, next to a field and sometimes on top of a mountain.

My partner Rebel does the driving and I am his passenger and we are a good team even to this day. We don’t hassle each other but rather we nurture our relationship, this is why we love being together.

In our travel I started to practice noticing and when it took a hold of me my curiosity got stronger, my observation goes deeper and details came to play.

When I started noticing I enjoy noticing myself, that was the first thing. As time goes by I noticed people see mundane things for example, a coin on the ground, they won’t pick it up because it is dirty while I do pick it up, clean it and use a magnifying lens if there is an error on the coin.

Accidental arts, rustic paints, a spilled cup, a broken lollipop, a faded sign, different mailboxes and so much more.

Everything holds a story and details and only those that look at things on certain ways will find them interesting.

Who could have known back east especially in those areas where houses are miles apart and an open sky and field are the main view is where we found these gorgeous mailboxes with characters.

We saw mailboxes one at a time and randomly. Sometimes that quick glance, sometimes we had to look twice or sometime we don’t even have time to take a picture because we are moving.

I see barns with white picket fences, barns with colorful paints, shed that is next to a river, acres and acres of green grasses, mountains with early fog, a little store in the middle of nowhere and so much more.

Every trip faraway I always look forward to be part of that experience. I am always looking forward to engage with life, with the travel we were and the road itself because I am a willing participant of my life.

The more I interact, the more responsive not only my senses but that richer mentality of openness one life should have.

Traveling to faraway places is our way of getting away from people who stay in one place all the time. The scenery does offer that peace, that sense of awesomeness and outside is where fascinating things are happening.

Because we built a relationship based on peace, any place can be felt as home in our heart.

It is that love we feel for what we had seen and seeing them, we are generously sharing and we do hope you got a glimpse how we enjoyed every travel we had been.
