It was one Saturday when I decided to go thrifting, but this time at a smaller store near me. I was already in the area and didn’t want to drive all the way to Savers, so I told myself I’d just take a quick look and see what was there. No real plan, just curious.
I called someone to unlock the shelf so I could see everything inside, and right away I wanted the strawberry piece. Everything in there was heavy, real weight to it, the kind of jewelry that tells you it was made to last.
It reminded me of the last time I had a strawberry piece like this. I was wearing it to a dentist appointment, and my dentist noticed it, she said my necklace was gorgeous. I looked at it, then looked at her, and asked if she wanted it. She was surprised, didn’t say anything at first. So I took it off and put it on her neck myself. She was pleased, and she thanked me.
It made me happy, adding a smile to someone’s face like that.
Finding this new set, complete with matching earrings, felt like getting a piece of that memory back. And going through everything on that shelf, I noticed something else too, without even planning it, the whole theme that day was red.
