As I contemplate the introduction to this blog, I find that I have no specific ideas in mind; instead, I prefer to write spontaneously and allow my thoughts to evolve organically. It has been over a week since I last wrote about Duke, and while this does not indicate a lack of commitment to the craft of writing, I have been preoccupied with various responsibilities. In particular, I am currently studying trading and revising numerous items in preparation for the upcoming Christmas season.
Despite my busy schedule, I remain acutely aware of the events that resonate with my connection to Duke, which inspires me to share another story. Recently, I stumbled upon a token whose origins I could not recall. However, I distinctly remember picking it up and holding it close as I walked.
During my stroll, I examined the token and pondered its significance. Curiosity led me to use a magnifying lens, through which I discerned the words “Maui No Ka Oi.” Realizing it was Hawaiian, I initially set aside my thoughts on it until later that evening.
Upon researching its meaning, I discovered that it translates to “Maui is the best.” This revelation prompted me to consider what makes it the best, leading me to explore its origins, translation, and usage.
Further investigation revealed that this token is actually a Maui dollar issued by the Maui Chamber of Commerce. It is quite striking, characterized by its gold-tone color and vivid design.
I also learned that this coin dates back to 1975 and is made of cupro-nickel; however, I was surprised to find that some versions of it were crafted from real silver. Although my token has a gold-tone finish, it is not made of gold, which is part of its uniqueness. The silver versions are composed of .999 pure silver, are rare and expensive, and typically come in display boxes.
While I won’t delve further into the specifics of the coin, it has served as a catalyst for this narrative.
For those who have followed my blogs about Duke, you may recall that I often mention how certain elements present themselves to me, sparking inspiration for new entries. In this analogy, I am the driver, guiding the direction of my writing journey.
As I write this blog, I experience a vivid vision of a blue sky adorned with white clouds, accompanied by a peculiar sensation as a white beam seems to enter my mind, despite it being nighttime here. If this sounds confusing, allow me to clarify: throughout my existence, I have encountered visions and heard thoughts, whether with my eyes closed or simply while sitting quietly. At times, I even perceive myself floating above, observing my physical self on the ground. I hope this doesn’t cause alarm; I have always possessed these abilities, which I consider gifts that many may find difficult to comprehend.
When reflecting on topics related to Duke, I find that my ability to connect with specific events or experiences is quite profound. This leads me to believe that there exists a particular energy or vibe guiding my thoughts and direction.
You may even speculate that the spirit of Duke Kahanamoku himself is at play here. My response is simple: I encourage you to read my previous blog posts, as they may provide you with insights or more precise answers.
In conclusion, the Maui coin represents a tool provided to me to continue documenting my reflections on Duke, who hails from Hawaii. Its validation serves as a reminder that I need not worry about what to write; inspiration will always manifest.
