Today’s blog post reflects a spontaneous decision, departing from my initial plans. I would like to elaborate on this matter.

What began as an intriguing mistake ultimately revealed itself to be a blessing in disguise.

Duke frequently occupies my thoughts, often emerging as I drift into sleep or awaken. This persistent presence is likely a result of my daily blogging about him and the numerous insightful articles I have encountered online.

Whenever I come across original articles related to Duke that fall within my budget, I typically reach out to the sellers via email, expressing my willingness to negotiate a price that I can afford. Although it may seem unnecessary, I feel compelled to explain my intentions, which has proven to be effective.

The sellers I have contacted appreciate that their Duke-related memorabilia is going to someone who truly values it. This connection resonates with me, as my engagement with these materials has revealed numerous insights and prompted a broader exploration of not only Duke himself but also the people and events surrounding him. This journey has deepened my passion for blogging about him.

Last week, I ordered books from a discounted online bookstore called “thriftbook” and a book of Hawaiian fish postcards caught my eye, although I did not give it much thought initially. A few days later, I decided to purchase it.

Today, one of the books arrived, and I was eager to unwrap it. However, I was confused upon discovering that the postcards were unfamiliar, despite being addressed to me. Instead of the Hawaiian fish postcard book, I received a book titled “Hawaiian Memories.”

Upon visiting the website, I began to express my willingness to simply buy this incorrect item and allow them to charge my card, while requesting that the Hawaiian fish postcard book still be shipped to me at no extra cost.

Noticing that I had just four minutes before their closing time, I decided to call. A representative answered, and after explaining the situation, he informed me that I could keep the book I received and that he would issue a refund. When I inquired about the Hawaiian fish postcard book, he explained that it was out of stock.

Accepting this resolution without further hassle, I moved on.

That evening, I shared the story with my partner, Rebel, and showed him the replacement book.

To my surprise, I found two postcards featuring Duke Kahanamoku. Rebel remarked that many might attribute this to coincidence, but he understands that for me, such occurrences are part of a “blessing in disguise” phenomenon in my life. The more I recognize its essence, the more frequently it seems to manifest.

I embrace this phenomenon, as I have learned not to become upset when things do not unfold as I initially expected. Instead, I adopt a mindset of curiosity, examining the scenarios that follow, often discovering unexpected beauty in the outcome.

I painstakingly removed the postcards from the book, dedicating 15 minutes to carefully separate them, as they were tightly glued together. This process required patience and precision, and by the end, I found myself surrounded by tiny scraps of paper scattered across the carpet and on my clothes.

Amused by the chaos I had created, I decided to vacuum.

Now that the postcards are sorted, I ponder what to do with them. at first.

Without a doubt , I have set aside the two Duke postcards for myself, while I plan to sell the smaller duplicates I already own, as these two are larger.

The remaining postcards will be sold individually.

As I prepare to photograph each postcard for listing, I conclude my story for today.
