They often say, “LET’S KEEP IN TOUCH,” but this phrase has become quite clichéd. It tends to pop up when we unexpectedly encounter acquaintances from work or even relatives.

What I learned many years ago is that those who discuss this type of sentence often just regurgitate words they already know, fully aware that they will not act on them.

They are the kind of people who will suggest meeting up, having coffee or tea, or engaging in activities together. However, when I take the initiative, they often come up with excuses, such as…

“It’s neither the right time nor the wrong time; they’re just busy. The most notorious ones are those who choose when to meet up, and when I follow up, the response I receive is that they have other commitments.”

I reflected on my usual thoughts about why many individuals behave the way they do, and the realization struck me that discovering a truly remarkable person is akin to uncovering a diamond in the rough.

So far, I haven’t encountered one, and I doubt I will.

As a result, I will keep uncovering the diamond within my rough edges. One change I’ve made is that I refuse to engage in the same behavior that these unreliable individuals display towards me.

Do you know someone like what I described? If so, how do handle it?
